Mariona Graupera is a group leader at the Institut d’Investigació Biomèdica de Bellvitge.
Mariona Graupera obtained her PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Barcelona, focusing on the pathobiology of endothelial cells in liver cirrhosis. She carried out postodoctoral studies with Bart Vanhaesebroeck first at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research and later the Barts Institute of Cancer, London where she was involved in characterizing the physiological role of class I PI3K isoforms. In particular, Mariona Graupera unraveled the importance of being selective in angiogenesis during development. She joined the Angiogenesis Unit at IDIBELL in October 2009 as a Group Leader. Her group investigates the role of signaling molecules, including the PI3K/PTEN, in endothelial cell biology, from physiology to pathology.
